SALES RESUME FOR +ART, NEW CONDO DEVELOPMENT AT 540 WEST 28TH STREET IN WEST CHELSEA

New York, NY – May 17, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Halstead Property Development Marketing and Ekstein Development announced today that sales have resumed for +aRt, a new premium condominium development located in the heart of West Chelsea’s art district at 540 West 28th Street.

Pre-sales at the development began initially in September 2008, but Halstead Property Development Marketing suspended sales in December 2008 until construction was further underway. Sales resume today along with the opening of a model apartment.  Construction is estimated for completion by the end of this summer, and closings and occupancy are expected to take place throughout the late summer and early fall.

According to Stephen G. Kliegerman, executive director of Halstead Property Development Marketing, “With construction now near completion, we are re-launching sales with a model unit so that buyers may visit to see, firsthand, the beautiful finishes, spacious layouts and incredible river views the development has to offer.”

+aRt is a 13-story new construction building, which will feature 91 artfully designed condominium residences that range in price from $520,000 – $2,300,000 and qualifies for the city’s 421-A tax abatement program.  The development offers a mix of homes from studios to three bedrooms that range in size from 445 – 1,570 square feet.  Some residences include outdoor space, and private rooftop cabanas are also available for purchase.  For a full list of available units and floor plans, please visit: http://www.540W28.com.

“Based on the recent increase in sales volume we have seen in our other development projects, we think this is a great time to bring +aRt back to market,” said Erik Ekstein, president of Ekstein Development, the building’s lead developer.  “Not only is +aRt a great value compared with nearby new developments, but we believe the unobstructed Hudson River and city views, coupled with the innovative design and finishes, will impress buyers looking for a new home in West Chelsea.”

The development also offers 6,000 square feet of retail gallery space on the ground floor of the building and will be accessible to residents and to the public.

Located a half block from the 28th Street entrance to the High Line and amongst dozens of art galleries, the area of West Chelsea is dynamic and thriving. “Interest in the area has increased dramatically with the opening of the High Line and we anticipate residences at +aRt will be in very high demand,” added Kliegerman.

+aRt will feature custom-made industrial styled decorative panels that flank the building’s brick façade, original works of art and sculpture in the interior courtyard and sales gallery.  The building’s art collection begins in the curated gallery lobby, which boasts a limited edition John Pawson terrazzo bench, art installations and Jean Prouve chairs.  Behind the design aesthetic are some of the region’s most talented designers and architects including GF55 Partners, Global Design Strategies and Curated.

The building’s amenities include a state of the art fitness center, a 24-hour attended lobby and a roof deck with various lounging settings, outdoor showers, and a bar with a grill that can be used for entertaining. From the upper floors and the building’s roof deck, residents will enjoy incredible views of the New York City skyline, the Empire State Building and the Hudson River.  Additionally, residents will have access to a common courtyard surrounded by a series of large scale wall panels, a matte black stone water feature with reflective sculptures and a steel and grass installation.

Each unit has been meticulously designed to create homes that offer serene, refined living in spacious layouts.  Residences feature European white oak planked flooring, double glazed insulated windows and sound insulated walls.  The sleek and modern kitchens feature Integrated Subzero refrigerators, black Bertazzoni gas stoves, Bosch dishwashers, and top of the line finishes including black granite countertops and dark stained walnut cabinetry.  Bathrooms feature ceramic tiled walls, custom soaking tubs and separate showers, European orange hand showers by Agape, and bath and shower fittings designed by Hansgrohe.  In addition, each unit contains its own Bosch washer and dryer.

+aRt is being developed by Ekstein Development, L&M Development Partners and RD Management and will be exclusively marketed and sold by Halstead Property Development Marketing.  For renderings and floor plans, please visit http://www.540W28.com or contact Allison Berger at allison (at) mediashoppr (dot) com or 212-867-8778 x223.
