NYCHA Launches New Self-Service Portal for Housing Applicants

Self-Service Portal gives applicants easy access to information about their public housing application

New York, NY – April 11, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — As part of the New York City Housing Authority’s goal to enhance customer service, it has launched an online service tool for Public Housing and Section 8 Voucher applicants. The NYCHA Housing Application Self-Service Portal allows applicants to check the status of a current Public Housing or Section 8 Voucher application (the Section 8 list is currently closed and no new applications are being accepted). Also, New York City residents can now apply for public housing online.

Once applicants have registered on the self-service portal, they can view their current application status and, if applicable, they can also view their eligibility interview date, confirm eligibility; verify certification to a public housing development waiting list; or verify their Housing Choice Voucher status.

To access the page, applicants can go to “Check my Application Status.” Those applying for public housing for the first time can click on “Apply Here” and once they have applied they can register on the self-service portal to monitor the status of their application.
