Maloney Urges Neighbors to Take Precautions Against Extreme Cold

Newburgh, NY – January 27, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Representative Sean Patrick Maloney urged folks in the Hudson Valley to take precautions, and check on those who are most vulnerable during the recent dangerously cold temperatures. With freezing temperatures and winds plummeting temperatures to below zero for the next week, Rep. Maloney encouraged folks to be careful and take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our children, the elderly, and the homeless in need of emergency shelter.

“None of our Hudson Valley neighbors should have to go to sleep enduring freezing cold temperatures – it is too dangerous. Please check in on folks in your neighborhood to make sure that they are keeping warm, and keep an eye out for anyone who might need assistance,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.

Residents in the Hudson Valley are encouraged to call 2-1-1 in case of an emergency, or to find out information about the nearest homeless shelter, soup kitchen, or for emergency heating assistance. If you see an unsheltered person who might be at risk, please contact Dutchess County Community Action at (845) 437-0050, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department at (845) 225-4300, Westchester DSS Emergency Services at (914) 995-2099, and Orange County Emergency Service at (845) 615-0400.
