NEW ROCHELLE TO RECEIVE ALMOST $1.5 MILLION IN HOUSING GRANTS

New York, NY – August 30, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY-16) announced that the City of New Rochelle will be receiving $1,419,575 in funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The source of the grant comes from the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which enable states and local governments to develop viable housing in urban communities for low- and middle-income families.

Rep. Engel said, “Housing is a necessity and the more we can do to help people have adequate housing, the better off we all will be. These grants will help New Rochelle to improve and expand housing for those who have the greatest need. This assistance is going to those most in need, and with the least resources. This is money that will not only spare families the hardships of homelessness, but will save taxpayers significant money in the long run.

“These kinds of grants go a long way towards providing them with a better future for their families, and for the City of New Rochelle to move forward and give residents more options for housing needs.”
