NYS Affordable Housing Corporation Approves $700,000 Grant to Build 20 Affordable Homes in the North Country

NEW YORK, NY – January 29, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) – The board of the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) today approved a $700,000 grant to North Country Affordable Housing, Inc. for the construction of 20 single-family homes in Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and St. Lawrence counties.

“This grant will improve the housing stock and the quality of life for working families in the North Country,” said Priscilla Almodovar, AHC President and Chief Executive Officer. “This award demonstrates Governor Paterson’s dedication to improving our state’s housing stock even in these difficult economic times.”

The AHC grant will be used to replace older, dilapidated mobile homes with modular or stick-built housing on the existing site. The grant awards will be limited to households earning up to $47,208 for a family of four. Program applicants will be able to live in their current mobile homes while the new homes are completed.

The proposed builder for the project is Redfield Capital Corporation. The total cost of the project is $2.3 million.
