New York – March 26, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — 32BJ SEIU members today announced their endorsement of Vincent Gentile for Congress representing Staten Island and Brooklyn in the 11th District.
32BJ members voted overwhelmingly to endorse Gentile for the Congressional seat in the special election in May.
“Vincent Gentile has fought tirelessly for the community and working men and women in the State Senate and as a member o f the New York City Council,” said 32BJ President Hector Figueroa. “His long history of advocacy for working families made him the clear choice for our members.”
32BJ members also announced their endorsement of Diana Richardson for State Assembly from the 43rd District in Brooklyn.
“Our members were impressed by Diana Richardson’s commitment to fight for the affordable housing and good jobs for the local community in her district,” said 32BJ President Figueroa.
“She is a lifelong resident and activist in the district and she knows the needs of the community better than anyone.”
32BJ members also noted the historic nature of this race. If elected, Richardson would be the first member of the New York state legislature elected just on the Working Families Party line.
She would be the second in the country after Ed Gomes was elected on a WFP-only line to the Connecticut State Senate in February.
32BJ looks forward to supporting Gentile and Richardson in their races and communicating with and mobilizing our members in New York City to get them elected.
With more than 145,000 members in 11 states, including 70,000 in New York City, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country.
