Congressman Eric Massa highlights HEAP home heating assistance program

CORNING, NY – November 2, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Today Congressman Eric Massa highlighted the beginning of the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) application period. Every year, HEAP helps thousands of New Yorkers by providing grants to citizens that can’t afford to keep their homes warm during the harsh winter. New Yorkers that think they might qualify are encouraged to apply online at http://www.otda.state.ny.us/main/heap or to contact one of their District Congressional offices.

“During this recession, families facing challenges paying their energy bills should know that help is available,” said Congressman Eric Massa. “HEAP assistance is set up to help our area’s low-income families keep their homes warm during the winter and your Congressional office is here to help. If your family is unable to afford to keep the heat on this winter, I encourage you to contact our offices in Corning, Olean or Pittsford. Your Congressional constituent services staff is here to help you.”
