WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 1, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — As part of his continued efforts to help residents reduce their tax burden, County Executive Edward P. Mangano has arranged to bring the Department of Assessment office operations to libraries and community meeting halls throughout Nassau to assist homeowners with filing for their property tax exemptions.
County Executive Mangano stated, “My administration froze County property taxes for six consecutive years for those earning under $500,000. All qualifying homeowner should be aware and take advantage of the many property tax exemptions that Nassau County offers as they can save families, seniors and individuals hundreds of dollars a year.”
Department of Assessment staff will assist any homeowner who would like to file for the Basic and Enhanced STAR, Veterans, Senior Citizen, Cold War Veterans, Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers, Limited Income Disability, or Home Improvement property tax exemption on-site.
Homeowners who will be filing for a property tax exemption can help expedite the application process by making copies of their 2014 Federal and State Income Tax Forms, Driver’s License, and any other documentation that is required prior to the workshop.
