NYS Affordable Housing Corporation Approves $180,000 to Renovate 30 Homes in Yates County

NEW YORK—Wednesday, April 2, 2008—The New York State Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) board today approved a $180,000 grant to the Keuka Housing Council Inc. to finance renovations of 30 homes in Yates County.

“This grant is important to maintaining the quality of life in our upstate communities,” said Priscilla Almodovar, AHC President and Chief Executive Officer. “Improving the housing stock in the communities of Yates County shows our commitment to providing all New Yorkers with quality affordable housing.”

“Keuka Housing Council envisions a community where all individuals live in suitable and safe housing,” said Kathy Disbrow, Executive Director of the Keuka Housing Council.  “This grant will help us work towards that goal. We are pleased that AHC has awarded this grant to assist Yates County residents.”

The improvements will focus on correcting conditions that threaten the health and safety of the homeowners and their families, including repairs to structural faults, mechanical systems faults, well and septic systems, as well as thermal upgrading. The grants will be limited to households earning no more than $47,208 for a family of four. Eligible homeowners will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

The total cost of the program is $300,666. In addition to the grant from AHC and homeowner equity, the program will receive $54,000 in HOME funds provided by the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation and $33,333 in subsidy funds provided by the Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation.
