Mayor Bill de Blasio, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) Commissioner Vicki Been, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) President Eric Enderlin, and New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) Commissioner Jamie Ruben join WHEDco, and BFC Partners to announce the start of construction on Bronx Commons – a 426,000 square foot, mixed-used development in the Melrose section of the Bronx that will include 305 affordable apartments, retail space, and the Bronx Music Hall, a new 14,000 square foot, 300-seat music venue and arts-centered community hub focused on the deeply-rooted history of cutting edge Bronx music.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $4.2 million is available to support programs providing training to building operations and maintenance workers on best practices to reduce energy use and energy bills in buildings across the state. The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance today announced that New Yorkers have claimed more than $38 million with a tax credit available to those who’ve installed solar energy systems at their primary residence. Between 2012 and 2014, claims for the Solar Energy Systems Equipment Credit increased 194%. The Tax Department received 9,041 claims for the credit in 2014, up from 3,074 in 2012

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today urged CSX to be a good neighbor and work with the City of Hudson as the local development corporation presses ahead in its proposal to acquire a CSX-owned parcel of land that could be the linchpin in its multi-million dollar redevelopment of the former KAZ warehouse site on Front Street in Hudson. Schumer explained that the local Hudson Development Corporation (HDC) has been trying to reach CSX for roughly two years now, but its outreach has fallen on deaf ears. HDC is looking to turn the former factory into a $25 million mixed-use facility with residential, retail and office space.
