Melville, NY – November 2, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — MarcumRosenfarb LLC, part of the Marcum Group, announced that Raymond Ghelardi, ASA, joined the firm’s forensic and valuation services group as Director of Business Valuation. Ghelardi will focus on growing Marcum’s corporate valuations, intangible asset valuations and financial reporting services.

For more than 25 years, Ghelardi has worked in the valuation and appraisal industry specifically with valuations of operating businesses comprising capital stock, fixed assets and intangibles in connection with sales, acquisitions, allocation of purchase price and dispositions. He has testified as an expert witness before numerous federal and state courts, including the Supreme Court of the State of New York.
Ghelardi’s experience in real estate feasibility and financial analysis extends to both the public and private sectors. Most recently, he was Managing Director for Trenwith Valuation, LLC, the valuation group of BDO Seidman, and a Senior Vice President with Management Planning Inc., a New Jersey-based valuation and advisory service firm where he initiated and developed its corporate valuation division. He spent more than 20 years with Valuation Counselor Group, the second largest independent valuation firm in the country. As Chairman, he negotiated its sale to CBIZ.
Ghelardi’s professional background includes working with EG&G, a Fortune 500 company, where he participated in feasibility studies for a $3.5 billion industrial facility and directed a permit evaluation for a NASA facility at Cape Canaveral. Earlier in his career, Ghelardi served as a Project Manager with Environmental Research & Technology, participating in site selection studies and analysis for a $1.2 billion industrial facility in Tennessee, elements of New York City’s Battery Park City development and other large industrial plants. He worked for the Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs where he administered a statewide environmental review program aimed at industrial development.
Ghelardi is a designated accredited senior appraiser (ASA) by the American Society of Appraisers, certified in Business Valuation, and is a past President of its Princeton Chapter. He is a licensed general real estate appraiser. Ghelardi earned a Master of City Planning degree from Harvard University where he was a National Fellow, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Emory University where he was a Merit Scholar. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Development from Pennsylvania State University and continues to support the institution by serving on the Lehigh Valley Advisory Board. Ghelardi is a member of the Lehigh Valley Historic Society and The Navy League of the United States.
