Record Year of Leasing at W&H Properties

NEW YORK CITY, NY – January 17, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — W&H Properties enjoyed its third consecutive record year of leasing in 2011, with more than 1.7 million square feet of transactions completed, announces Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings LLC, which supervises the eight-million-square-foot, nine-building portfolio.

The 2011 record amount represents an increase of approximately 30 percent over the 1.3 million square feet leased the previous year.

More than half of the 2011 total stems from leases at the Empire State Building, with 61 transactions comprising more than one million square feet. Tenants that leased space at the World’s Most Famous Office Building included LF USA, Coty, Human Rights Watch, Turkish Airlines, and The People’s Daily (one of China’s largest news agencies).

Significant transactions at the other W&H portfolio buildings included office and retail leases and expansions with Actimize (NASDAQ: NICE) at 1359 Broadway; Haver Analytics, Sun Life Financial and the Charmer-Sunbelt Group at One Grand Central Place; Regus and Leviton Manufacturing at 112 West 34th Street; Xerox Corporation at 250 West 57th Street; eBay’s e-Dialog, Wiss Janney Elstner Associates, and Chitwood Harley & Harnes at 1350 Broadway; and Potbelly Sandwich Shop at 501 Seventh Avenue, to name just a few.
