ROUTE 5&20 ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION WORK IN GENEVA, ONTARIO COUNTY RESUMES THIS WEEK

New York, NY – April 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Highway construction work is resumed on two transportation projects along Route 5 & 20 (Hamilton Street) in the city and town of Geneva, Ontario County this week.

The $3.7 million project to rehabilitate the bridge carrying Hamilton Street over Norfolk Southern Railroad began in 2014. Traffic is reduced to a single lane.

The $3.3 million project to resurface a two-mile stretch of Hamilton Street from Berry Fields Road to just east of Route 14 (South Main Street,) including the cloverleaf, is also resuming. Work to build sidewalks on the north side of the highway between Tremont Street and the city line has begun. Traffic will be maintained with short term lane shifts and flaggers will direct alternating one-way traffic daily during daytime hours.

Both projects are slated to be complete in August.

The construction contractor for the bridge project is Economy Paving of Cortland, Cortland County. The construction contractor for the highway project is Villager Construction, of Fairport, Monroe County.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
