Seneca County Housing Rehabilitation Needs Survey Launched

Waterloo, NY – April 2, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — The Seneca County Department of Planning and Community Development is now accepting Housing Rehabilitation Assistance Needs Surveys from low-to-moderate income Seneca County homeowners in need of assistance with home repairs. This survey is part of Seneca County’s application to the competitive 2010 New York State Community Development Block Grant program for up to $750,000 in housing repair assistance. Income-eligible homeowners who complete and turn in the survey will be placed on a waiting list for assistance in the event that Seneca County is awarded housing rehabilitation funding.

Needs Surveys are available for download from the Seneca County Website at http://www.co.seneca.ny.us/newsfiles/ House_Press_Rel_PreApp_Survey.pdf, and paper copies are available at the Seneca County Department of Human Services, Seneca Housing, Inc., and the Cayuga-Seneca Community Action Agency. Needs Surveys will be collected continually throughout the year – there is no due date. However, the waiting list will be prioritized on a first-eligible, first served basis.

Completing a Needs Survey does not mean nor imply that you will receive housing repair assistance. The Community Development Block Grant program is an extremely competitive state-wide program with federally-mandated income eligibility and home ownership requirements.

Homeowners who complete a Needs Survey may be contacted for additional information. All personal information will be kept strictly confidential. Total tallies will be used for housing repair grant applications.
