U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today urged the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to swiftly review and approve an appeal submitted by Binghamton University for federal funds to which they are entitled. Schumer explained that, following Tropical Storm Lee, FEMA approved a total project cost of $3,188,766 in funding for repairs to its University Downtown Center. The Center was inundated by flood water during Tropical Storm Lee, causing extensive damage to all electrical and mechanical services that support the building’s functions.<

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Nita M. Lowey today announced $4,888,354 in federal funding for the Village of Grand View-on-Hudson. The funding will be allocated through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and allow the village in Rockland County to replace the Village Hall building that was severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Hurricane Sandy caused extensive damage to the Village Hall Office, located on River Road, requiring the building to be condemned.

Cuomo today announced that FEMA will issue Emergency Assistance for New Yorkers whose homes were affected by Hurricane Sandy. At the Governor’s request, FEMA will bring in contractors in order to perform basic repairs so that residents can return to their homes while more long term repairs are in progress. Only residents in the federally-declared counties are eligible to participate in this program. Homeowners in these localities who want to apply for assistance should contact their county or local officials to receive contractor support.
