The nonprofit initiative will bring lowcost solar power to affordable housing providers in New York, which provide critical housing and services to low-income residents. Solar can significantly reduce energy costs for both operators and tenants, yet up-front costs, credit scores and complex financing remain significant barriers for this sector to access the technology.

Solar Array at Dutchess County Airport Moving Forward
Poughkeepsie…The development of a 2.498 megawatt photovoltaic (PV) solar panel array at the Dutchess County Airport in the Town of Wappinger moved forward yesterday as the Dutchess County Legislature’s Environment Committee approved resolutions with lead agency status declaration as well as the approval and adoption of a Full Environmental Assessment Form (FEAF) and negative declaration of environmental significance in connection to the project. The resolutions will be considered by the full Dutchess County Legislature at their August Board meeting on Monday, August 10th

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced communities across the state have come together to bring clean and affordable solar power to their localities at a discounted cost of up to 20 percent. With 26 campaigns launching through Reforming the Energy Vision, communities can obtain solar installations as a large group rather than an individual household—making it cheaper for everyone involved.
