Congresswoman Lowey Announces $360,000 Grant to Prevent Youth Homelessness in Westchester County

WHITE PLAINS, NY – September 26, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland), the senior Democrat on the Appropriations Committee, today announced a $360,000 federal grant for Westchester County’s “Westchester Building Futures: Youth Homelessness Prevention Initiative,” which will help identify the best strategies for fighting homelessness.

The initiative is being managed by the County’s Department of Social Services.

“Helping our youth avoid the pitfalls and heartbreak of homelessness is essential to a healthy community and keeping our children safe,” said Congresswoman Lowey. “I am pleased that our federal government has chosen to invest in this important initiative.”

The competitive grant was provided through the Department of Health & Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families.
