BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – (RealEstateRama) — OurSpace at Recreation Park is revitalizing a four acre parcel of the City of Binghamton’s Recreation Park with a design that is fully adaptive and inviting for all members of our community. OurSpace’s unique design includes a new Adaptive Playground, a Tree Deck, Raised Garden Beds, Game Tables and Natural Play Areas.
The project’s planning invited the needs of our entire community into the conversation. From young families, our aging friends, families and individuals with special needs, community members and neighborhood friends; organizers gathered a long list of “wishes” for the park. The resulting design creates a safe space to play for all members of our community.
In an innovative approach, the OurSpace will be built with the help of community volunteers — friends, co-workers, student groups, non-profits and others — who are energized to put their mark on this historic project. Community build dates are as follows:
Phase II Tree Deck, Grow Space & Natural Play — April 18-24
Volunteer Builders: 20 per shift
“Skilled” Volunteer Builders: 15 per shift
Phase II Playground — May 2-7
Volunteer Builders: 45 per shift
“Skilled” Volunteer Builders: 20 per shift
Volunteer shifts start at 8:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.
All volunteers on site must be at least 16-years-old. “Skilled” volunteers must be 18-years-old and have basic tool skills.
