Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $8,180,000 in Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant funding, from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, for roadway safety in New York’s Capital Region.
The lawmakers said the money will fund safety analyses and launch pilot programs for emergency vehicle alerts, prehospital blood delivery and more. The funding is divided among three projects serving Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady and Schoharie counties.
Schumer and Gillibrand said the grants will help communities develop comprehensive safety action plans and implement targeted safety measures.
