CITY LEADERS, TENANT ACTIVISTS TO HOLD RALLY ON EXPIRING DOORMAN CONTRACT

New York, NY – April 19, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — RAB With only one day remaining before the contract expiration for 30,000 doormen and other apartment building workers, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, City Comptroller John Liu, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and tenant rights activists will voice concerns about a potential strike. The officials will call on the Realty Advisory Board (RAB), an industry association representing most building owners, to settle a fair contract with the workers. The contract, which covers 30,000 doormen, superintendents, resident managers, porters, handymen and concierges, expires at 12:01 a.m., April 21. In the event of a strike, more than one million New Yorkers living in apartments, co-ops and condominiums would be directly affected.
