HUNDREDS OF NYC BUILDING WORKERS AND SUPPORTERS TO MARCH AT CO-OP CITY DEMANDING AN END TO THE WORKER LOCKOUT AND A NEW CONTRACT

– Some 55,000 Co-Op City Tenants Affected by the Employer Lockout –‪ ‪

New York, NY – June 3, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Locked-out Co-Op City apartment building workers will be joined by hundreds of New York City building workers, elected officials and supporters to march and rally through the streets of Co-op City to demand an end to the worker lock out and a fair contract from RiverBay Corporation, the managing firm at Co-op City.

Co-Op City apartment building workers were locked out by their employer RiverBay on Tuesday, effectively preventing them from performing their jobs, as their contract expired with the corporation. The contract, which expired at 12:01am Tuesday, covers the 500 porters, handymen, maintenance men, garbage attendants and groundskeepers who maintain the massive complex that is home to 55,000 New Yorkers.

Co-op City is the largest single residential development in the US and the largest cooperative housing development in the world.
