Dave Matthews Band to headline three-day, outdoor concert series starting on June 24
NEW YORK, NY – June 17, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Jones Lang LaSalle represented Starr Hill Presents, a sister company of Red Light Management, in arranging a summer music festival at Bader Field in Atlantic City. The three-day music festival is the first stop for the Dave Matthews Band Caravan and the event will take place from June 24 to June 26.
The Jones Lang LaSalle team advising Starr Hill Presents on the festival was led by Peter Riguardi, president of the company’s New York region, Paul Mas, executive vice president, and Michael Shenot, managing director. The group worked closely with Chris Scianni of the Scianni Group, a New York based music and media consultant.
“We’ve been in discussions with a number of people in the music industry about the need for new rehearsal and theater/event space in the New York area,” said Riguardi. “In speaking with Red Light Management, which was interested in producing a summer concert series in the Northeast, Paul Mas and Michael Shenot mentioned that Bader Field would make an excellent location for such an event. We held a series of meetings with officials at the city and state level, as well with the major players in the casino industry and local business community. The reception for all parties involved was extremely positive due to Paul and Michael’s expertise and knowledge of the Atlantic City market. Our goal was to make sure that Starr Hill Presents had local support for the event and that the public infrastructure could handle a large influx of festival goers.”
Joining the Dave Matthews Band Caravan at Bader Field are a diverse group of musicians that include David Gray, Ray Lamontagne, The Flaming Lips, O.A.R., Damian Marley, Bassnectar, Dr. Dog, Amos Lee, Thievery Corporation, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Warren Haynes Band, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Guster, Lotus, Rebelution, Delta Spirit, Big Gigantic, Alberta Cross, Mariachi El Bronx, TR3, Vusi Mahlasela, The Budos Band, The Tangiers Blues Band and Bobby Long.
The outdoor concert series will be held on three stages that will be constructed at Bader Field, a 150-acre former municipal airport that is considered one of the premier gaming and resort development parcels in North America. The three-day event is one of only four locations in the United States where fans can see the Dave Matthews Band this year.
“Jones Lang LaSalle has extensive knowledge of the Atlantic City market, having worked closely with the City of Atlantic City, the New Jersey Economic Development Agency and the Casino Redevelopment Agency in marketing Bader Field just prior to the economic downturn,” said Mas. “Our familiarity with the area allowed us to devise a creative, interim use for the site that will create both a positive economic and image impact on Atlantic City at a critical time.”
“Jones Lang LaSalle did a great job in connecting us not just to the real estate community but also to all the Atlantic City stakeholders that made this possible,” said Coran Capshaw, founder of Red Light Management. “We are excited to play a role in the revitalization of this city, and we feel that with the right approach, we can continue to bring high-quality entertainment that adds yet another dimension to the experience that visitors to Atlantic City enjoy.”
The city of Atlantic City had engaged Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008 to oversee the disposition of Bader Field. The company also worked with the Casino Redevelopment Agency and other state agencies in the effort to identify possible buyers for the property, which remains a truly unique development opportunity.
