U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $17,182,465 in federal funding for 36 critical infrastructure projects at local airports across Upstate New York. This funding was allocated through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP). Specifically, the federal funding will be used for renovations and improvements to operational efficiency to airports in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier, Central & Western New York, Rochester Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley and North Country.

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) today released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of 100 percent affordable housing apartments for seniors and families on the grounds of four NYCHA developments: Harborview Terrace in midtown Manhattan, Sumner Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, and Morrisania Air Rights and Twin Parks West, located in Morrisania and Fordham Heights in the Bronx.

New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) Commissioner Maria Torres-Springer and New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) President Eric Enderlin announce that the City Council voted to renew the Article XI tax exemption for Dreamyard NEP HDFC, a 301-unit affordable housing project in the University Heights and Morris Heights neighborhoods of the Bronx.  This is a major milestone as the City looks to finance the rehabilitation and extended affordability of these two year-15 tax credit properties owned by Bronx Pro Group

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) announced the first recipient to receive a low-interest loan through the Emerging Developer Loan Fund (EDLF). The project, 1193 Fulton Avenue Residence LLC, will be a nearly 21,000 square foot, 100% affordable, 25-unit residential building in the Morrisania section of the Bronx.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $7 million in state funding to assist homeowners that have been impacted by flooding along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. The new investment program will provide up to $40,000 for homeowners to support interior and exterior repairs to structural damage caused by flooding, as well as the repair or replacement of permanent fixtures.

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $150,000 in federal funding for the Southern Tier Library System (STLS) in Allegany, Steuben, Yates, Schuyler, and Chemung counties. The funding was allocated by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and will allow the STLS to upgrade existing fiber infrastructure that delivers broadband internet capabilities connecting 21 of its public libraries in the five-county region.

An audit of the Tonawanda Housing Authority (THA) has revealed inappropriate computer usage, inequitable tenant and applicant treatment, and high vacancy rates in public housing, according to New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

The funding was allocated through the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). Specifically, the Victory Fire Department will receive $119, 524 to fund regional projects in which multiple fire departments and other organizations are involved.

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) announced Fetner Properties as the developer for the first NextGeneration (NextGen) Neighborhoods site, which is on the grounds of Holmes Towers in Manhattan. Fetner was chosen in part due to its commitment to community-focused features in its proposal, including new playgrounds and open space and a new recreational and community center for local residents.

Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today former City of Dunkirk Mayor Richard L. Frey, 85, of Dunkirk, NY, who was convicted of wire fraud involving a scheme to defraud his mayoral campaign and his supporters by stealing campaign contributions for his personal benefit, was sentenced to six months home confinement by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The defendant was also ordered to pay restitution totaling $54,361.30

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $10 million in state funding is available to assist eligible local municipalities that have been impacted by the recent flooding along the Lake Ontario coastline. The new investment program will support flood recovery efforts, including repairs to flood walls, roads, sidewalks, and culverts, as well as public water and sewer infrastructure. The funding is available through New York State Homes and Community Renewal.

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) announced that Hudson River Housing will receive a federal investment of $286,333 to support efforts to develop and preserve affordable housing, revitalize and sustain neighborhoods, and create jobs. The investment is being made through NeighborWorks America, a public nonprofit established by Congress in 1978.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the acquisition of Marion River Carry, a 296 acre property in the Adirondacks. Coinciding with the 125th anniversary of the Adirondack Park, Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos signed ceremonial maps to resolve more than a century of differences between the state and Raquette Lake occupants located on 216 parcels within Township 40. As part of the resolution, the state acquired the property from Open Space Institute, which will now be added to the Adirondack Forest Preserve and made open to the public
