Mar 7 2012, Syracuse, New York–Every Tuesday of March 2012, the Teen Book Club at the Onondaga County Central Library will be having a fun and lively discussion about the Hunger Games, the first installment in the series written by Young Adult author Suzanne Collins. Other books in the trilogy include Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
Entitled The Hunger Games Mania, the series of discussions has been organized to encourage kids from grades 1 to 7 to read Collins’ bestselling series before the film adaptation hits theaters this March 23, 2012. The movie features Jennifer Lawrence as the feisty female lead KatnissEverdeen and is directed by Gary Ross.
Aside from exciting book discussions, The Hunger Games Mania will also include trivia contests as well as refreshments. One lucky participant of the book club will also win a pair of tickets to the film.
Established by the Syracuse Public Library and the Onondaga Library System in 1976, the Onondaga Central Public Library aims to make a positive difference in people’s lives by enlightening them with the power of information and ideas. Aside from providing essential library services, the Onondaga Central Public Library also regularly holds a variety of events in a constant effort to pursue its efforts. This February, the library celebrated national Bird-Feeding Month. This March, aside from the Teen Book club discussions, the library will also offer a Library Puzzler Challenge from March 12 until April 9. The library’s staff will also offer a free 10-week course on Computer Basics for Job Searching. Although admission is free, interested participants are highly encouraged to make their reservations.
Teen readers are invited to join in the discussion any Tuesday of the month. Meetings of the Teen Book Club will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Onondaga County Central Library, which is located at The Galleries of Syracuse, 447 S.
