NEW YORK, NY – March 3, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — The Board of Directors of Tenants & Neighbors announces the appointment of Katie Goldstein as Executive Director. Katie has been on staff since 2007, most recently as the Director of Organizing. She succeeds Maggie Russell-Ciardi, who completed seven years of service as executive director.
“Katie has a powerful combination of experience, skills, and commitment that we have seen in all of her roles in the organization,” says Ricardo Gotla, Tenants & Neighbors Board President. “She has been a strong leader in Tenants & Neighbors and in the wider tenant movement, and will only strengthen the New York State tenant movement in this new role.”
Katie has had experience in tenant, community, faith-based, immigrants’ rights, and labor organizing over her past ten years as an organizer. She has worked at Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, is a graduate of the Rockwood Leadership Institute, and is a participatory budgeting facilitator in her neighborhood of Kensington, Brooklyn. She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College in Global Studies.
