New York, NY – October 1, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — On Saturday, September 15th, the State of New York Mortgage Agency – SONYMA, hosted its second “Welcome Home, New York” event for first-time homebuyers at Asbury First United Methodist Church in Downtown Rochester.
Approximately 150 interested home buyers attended the event, where workshops were hosted by industry professionals on various topics: lending, realty, appraisal, insurance and the many benefits of working with a non-profit agency.
Our own Housing Commissioner/CEO Darryl C. Towns was introduced by our host Steve Hausmann of WBEE Radio. Reverend Hargrave of Ashbury First, Senator Joseph Robach and Assemblyman Harry Bronson all spoke about the importance of home ownership and how they understood the concerns of constituents who want to buy a home for the first time. Commissioner Towns expressed his efforts on staying focused on the community’s needs in terms of getting the word out about SONYMA and all the benefits SONYMA Mortgage can provide.
In the end, it was a successful SONYMA event, with many folks pleased to be advised of the process of home buying. We will continue our support by reaching out to all those who came, to further help with any questions or concerns they may have.
Our next stop on our Welcome Home, New York! tour will be Buffalo, New York. Saturday, May 18, 2013 (Location to be determined). We look forward to further educating upstate and Western New Yorkers on all of the advantages of becoming a first-time homeowner.
