Rep. Rice to Host Mortgage Modification Fair
U.S. Representative Kathleen Rice is hosting a Mortgage Modification Fair on Saturday, September 24th from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in cooperation with Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano's office. Homeowners who are struggling to make mortgage payments will have opportunities to attend lectures and seminars on financial best practices by homeownership and mortgage modification specialists, and meet directly with attorneys, counselors, support groups and lenders in the exhibit zone on the lower level of the museum in order to learn how to make homeownership more affordable and avoid foreclosure.

Consumers’ Inflation and Household Finance Expectations Strengthen
The August 2016 Survey of Consumer Expectations shows an increase in both short-term and medium-term inflation expectations. In particular, the median year-ahead inflation expectations reached its highest level of the year. Median expected household income growth also increased (for the third month in a row) to its highest level since May of 2015. Labor market expectations were mixed: Expectations about finding a job and earnings growth both improved, but the perceived probability of losing a job and expectations about the unemployment rate both increased slightly.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced a settlement with real estate developers Jeshayahu Boymelgreen, Itzhak Katan, and Domenick Tonacchio and several of their entities. The settlement ends the Attorney General’s investigation of potential Martin Act violations at six condominiums in Manhattan and Brooklyn that were developed by Boymelgreen either in partnership with others or on his own. The agreement also bars Boymelgreen from participating in the offer or sale of securities, including condominiums, in or from New York State for a period of two years
