November 6, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced the formation of the Nassau County Recovery Housing Task Force. This Task Force consists of commissioners and staff from the Department of Health, Social Services and Human Services; the Office of Housing and Community Development, as well as representative from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Army Corps. of Engineers.
The mission of the Recovery Housing Task Force is to develop a short term and long range recovery action plan to assist the thousands of Nassau County residents currently facing catastrophic losses as a result hurricane Sandy. According to County Executive Mangano, “This task force is working hand and hand with FEMA, the Army Corps of Engineers and the New York State Office of Emergency Management to ensure that our residents can receive a prompt and a coordinated response to address their immediate urgent housing needs.”
Housing Task Force Chairperson and County Health Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein stated “The County’s priority is to ensure that all of our residents have safe housing and, in those instances where there exists dangerous conditions we will mobilize a coordinated response effort using all the resources available from the county, state and federal agencies with whom we are working.”
