Michael Bosco of Jones Lang LaSalle Joins New York City Buildings Sustainability Board

Bosco to serve one-year term as board member; will review, evaluate new green technologies for application to city’s current construction codes

NEW YORK, NY – October 14, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Jones Lang LaSalle announced that Michael Bosco has been appointed to serve a one-year term as a member of the New York City Buildings Sustainability Board. He serves as portfolio energy manager with the company’s Energy and Sustainability Services (ESS) group.

The Buildings Sustainability Board, a division of the New York City Department of Buildings, promotes the use of renewable energy in the city and encourages the use of technologies that leave a minimal footprint on the environment. The 10-member board reviews and evaluates new green technologies that have not been addressed in the city’s construction code and makes technical recommendations for their application to current codes and regulations. Board members must be experts with a background in engineering, architecture, green development, or green design and technology, and each serves a one-year term on the BSB.

Bosco, 32, has 11 years of experience advising businesses and government agencies on engineering and energy management issues and projects. He is responsible for devising and implementing energy management strategies for Jones Lang LaSalle’s clients throughout the Northeast. Bosco directs the procurement of electric and natural gas commodities, identifies and implements new technologies and coordinates demand-side projects for client portfolios.

“Michael Bosco’s background as a skilled engineer and an expert in energy management makes him an ideal choice to serve on the city’s Buildings Sustainability Board,” said Jean Savitsky, chief operating officer of the company’s ESS group. “He has extensive experience in creating and implementing policies, having worked with building owners, managers and consultants on the City of New York’s Green Energy Legislation. Michael has also consulted with state officials on energy programs in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.”

Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Bosco served as director of New York operations at Dome-Tech Inc., a national strategic energy consulting firm. His responsibilities included planning and execution of multiple energy audits, retro-commissioning, new construction commissioning, LEED certification and performance testing projects for commercial, high-rise residential, hospital, higher education and pharmaceutical facilities. Bosco also served as the lead Commissioning Authority or LEED Facilitator on more than 10 LEED NC and LEED EB O&M certified projects that achieved Silver to Platinum ratings from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Bosco received a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. He received a commission as an ensign in the United States Naval Reserve and retired as a lieutenant.

Bosco is registered as a Professional Engineer and a Certified Energy Manager with the State of New York, and is also registered as a Certified Energy Auditor with the Association of Energy Engineers. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is certified by the United States Coast Guard as a Licensed Engineering Officer for steam, motor and gas turbine vessels of unlimited horsepower.

Bosco is an active member of the Urban Green Council and serves on the Energy and Sustainability Committee for the New York Chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association.
