MTA AND NYPA PARTNER TO COMPLETE $25 MILLION ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT AT GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL

WHITE PLAINS – April 22, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — In celebration of Earth Week, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman Thomas F. Prendergast (left) and New York Power Authority President and CEO Gil C. Quiniones commemorate the completion of a $25 million energy efficiency project in Grand Central Terminal. The energy saving measures will save the landmark facility $2.5 million in annual energy costs and reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions by more than 11,200 tons a year, the equivalent of removing roughly 2,140 cars from the road.

The project was carried out under Governor Cuomo’s BuildSmart NY program, a statewide initiative to increase energy efficiency in public buildings.

Further information on the project can be found here.
