New York State’s REALTORS support Gov. Cuomo’s focus on Fair Housing for all

Albany – February 19, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — The following is a statement by New York State Association of REALTORS CEO Duncan R. MacKenzie:

“The New York State Association of REALTORS (NYSAR) and its 50,000 REALTORS applaud Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo for his newly launched Fair Housing Enforcement Program. New York State’s REALTORS vigorously support the ideal that no one should be discriminated against based on race, color, national origin, disability or familial status as well as the additional protected classes under New York State Law including sexual orientation, military status, age or being a victim of domestic violence.

All REALTORS subscribe to the REALTOR Code of Ethics, which holds fair and equal service for all among its core tenets. NYSAR offers its members regular updates as to new developments in Fair Housing law. The association offers continuing education programs to help ensure that our members understand the Code and the law in their practice of real estate. We continue to advocate for greater transparency in the co-op purchase process to eliminate any potential for discrimination to occur.

Every day REALTORS assist all New Yorkers in achieving the American Dream of homeownership or in renting a place to call their own. We stand united with the governor in his effort to eradicate housing discrimination.”

The New York State Association of REALTORS is a not-for-profit trade organization representing more than 50,000 of New York State’s real estate professionals. The term REALTOR is a registered trademark, which identifies real estate professionals who subscribe to a strict code of ethics as members of the National Association of REALTORS. These REALTORS are also members of the New York State Association of REALTORS as well as their local board or association of REALTORS.
