New York State Homes and Community Renewal Announces $80,000 Award to Help CCMI, Inc. Expand and Create Jobs in the City of Geneva

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) today announced that the City of Geneva received an $80,000 NYS Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Business Program award it requested to help CCMI, Inc., a successful local manufacturing company, expand.

James S. Rubin, Commissioner of New York State Homes and Community Renewal said, “Small businesses are the backbone of local economies and key to their success. Under Governor Andrew Cuomo’s leadership, HCR is investing resources to help companies like CCMI renew their commitment to New York State, to succeed, and to create new job opportunities for working families.”

This project is closely aligned with the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council’s priorities, and seeks to grow the economy by creating jobs for people in the Finger Lakes Region.

CCMI has been operating in the City of Geneva since 1991, providing Cut Sheet Thermo/Vacuum forming, CNC Routing and Milling, as well as machining of plastics, metals, composites, and fabrication. The CDBG Small Business Program award will be used to purchase machinery. The project will create four full-time jobs over two years, three of which will benefit low and moderate-income workers. The funds are part of the company’s overall plan to expand operations, including purchasing a building and additional property. Geneva Mayor Ron Alcock said, “CCMI has been a part of the Geneva community for 25 years. The award announced today is an example of Governor Cuomo’s commitment to local businesses. It will help CCMI stay in New York and succeed for another 25 years and beyond.”
Ontario Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Marren said, “Congratulations to CCMI and the City of Geneva. The small business award from New York State will help CCMI acquire the equipment it needs to expand and create jobs for local workers. When we help business succeed, we make Ontario County and the entire Finger Lakes Region an even better place to live.”

Anthony Lewis, President of CCMI, Inc. said, “The support we’ve received from the State of New York and the City of Geneva will allow CCMI to continue to grow and create jobs in our community. New York State has been a great place to do business and we look forward to continued success.”

Accelerating Finger Lakes Forward
Today’s announcement accelerates “Finger Lakes Forward,” the region’s blueprint to generate robust economic growth and community development. The State has already invested more than $3.4 billion in the region since 2012 to support its plan – investing in key industries including photonics, agriculture and food production, and advanced manufacturing. Today, unemployment is down to the lowest levels since before the Great Recession; personal and corporate income taxes are down; and businesses are choosing places like Rochester, Batavia and Canandaigua as a destination to grow and invest in.

Now, the region is accelerating Finger Lakes Forward with a $500 million State investment through the Upstate Revitalization Initiative, announced by Governor Cuomo in December 2015. The State’s $500 million investment will incentivize private business to invest well over $2.5 billion – and the region’s plan, as submitted, projects up to 8,200 new jobs.
