Bellport, NY – August 24, 2016 — (RealEstateRama) — As part of its ongoing efforts to foster homeownership opportunities and community involvement throughout the state, the New York State Association of REALTORS® is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County to build a home for a deserving family. Up to 45 REALTORS® from across the state will gather Aug. 30-Sept. 1 to help in all stages of the construction process, from the initial framing, to painting and landscaping for the 810 Meade Avenue, Bellport home.
“As REALTORS® we help home buyers achieve the American Dream of homeownership. Our natural affinity for housing leads many of us to support Habitat for Humanity through monetary donations or by working at a build site,” said 2016 NYSAR President Linda Lugo, a resident of Suffolk County. “It’s important for our REALTOR® members to partner with community organizations such as Habitat, which not only address housing issues, but gives back to the community as well.”
The New York State Association of REALTORS® contributed $10,000 to build the home in addition to providing volunteer labor and further support materials. This is the fifth Habitat build NYSAR has worked on in the last 11 years.
“The stability, security and the comfort that having our own home will provide means so much to us,” said Diana Marquez, mother of the family that will move into the house. “A safe, clean and stable environment is what helps children succeed in life and Habitat for Humanity is giving my children that opportunity.”
