SCHUMER, GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCE $500,000 IN MAIN STREET GRANT FUNDING FOR THE VILLAGE OF MONTICELLO

Funding Will Be Used To Sure Up Historic Infrastructure And Provide Affordable Housing

WASHINGTON – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $500,000 in federal funding for the Village of Monticello. The funding, allocated through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Main Street program, helps support affordable housing and rejuvenate older, downtown business districts while retaining the area’s traditional and historic character. Specifically, this federal funding will assist in the rehabilitation of the Strong Building at 430 Broadway, Monticello NY, which has been vacant for the past 10 years and currently has extensive interior water damage. Once the building has been rehabilitated, it will be reconfigured into 16 affordable housing units.

“Access to affordable housing is essential for the health of our families and the economic strength of our communities,” said Senator SchumerThis federal investment will strengthen Monticello’s historic  infrastructure, and provide safe, quality housing for families. I will continue to fight for programs that not only protect New York’s infrastructure but also helps provide families and children with safe and affordable housing.”

“These Main Street grant funds will allow the Village of Monticello to invest in the rehabilitation of a vacant building that will provide affordable homes for 16 families for years to come,” said Senator Gillibrand. “This investment will help rejuvenate our local neighborhoods. I will always fight in the Senate to make sure that our communities have the resources to invest in critical infrastructure projects.”

“As the heart of the Village of Monticello, Broadway has been central in shaping this community for generations. I want to thank Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand for continuing that legacy by helping execute our Main Street Revitalization project which seeks to foster local business and develop our great neighborhood. This project provides much needed care to our village’s historic infrastructure, while also paving the way for Monticello’s bright future,” saidMayor Doug Solomon
