Baldwinsville, NY – January 26, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Syracuse NY realtors have lately been busy inviting other locals to join in the fun and get cold for a cause for The Big Chill, an event hosted by the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of funding the Ronald McDonald House Charities of CNY as well as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The annual 2-day event offers an exciting itinerary of events that include contests, wine tasting, a pub-crawl and last but not the least the highly anticipated “big chill” event wherein people jump to the challenge of facing the freezing depths of the Seneca River.
The Polar Bear Plunge, as the main event of The Big Chill is called, is already on its fifth year. Approximately a hundred of participants come to participate every year and drawing crowds that number over a thousand. Both individuals and teams work hard to raise funds during this annual celebration. In 2011, the event had raised a total of $35,000 and it is the hope of Tony Saraceni – the President of the Baldwinsville Chamber – that this year’s event may raise up to $50,000.
Tony himself participates in the Polar Bear Plunge, and he is not the only one in his family to do so. In fact, it has become quite the tradition in his family, with his brother Joe Saraceni – who also happens to be Tony’s brother – participating right next to him. The activity is expected to last for four hours on Saturday, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 in the afternoon.
The Red Mill Inn has been chosen to host the celebration’s kick-off event with wine-tasting activities paired with an assortment of cheeses and chocolates. The fun does not stop there as the event will also include an unforgettably fun night filled with music and laughter. Other activities for the crowd’s entertainment have also been arranged while regular raffle draws are expected to reward various winners throughout the event. Tickets for the kick-off event are sold at $30 per person or $50 for participating couples for early bird buyers while tickets sold during the day of the event are priced at $35 and $60 respectively.
For noontime events, participants and spectators alike will be treated with the highly entertaining Best in Bowl food contest, which is slated to take place in Mercer Park. At least ten local restaurants are expected to participate in the event and attempt to win one of the three awards available: People’s Choice, Most Unique, and Judges’ Choice. Tickets for this event are sold at $5 and include unlimited tasting.Other events such as the pub crawl and the Poker Bear Express will be held at night from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 in the evening.
For those interested in participating in the event, the chamber may be contacted at 638-050. Information is also available at their website, B-Ville.com and local Syracuse NY realtors.
