The Ulster County Office Building Will Be Lit Blue To Highlight Autism Awareness Day
Kingston, NY – (RealEstateRama) — Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announces that Ulster County will recognize Autism Awareness Day by lighting the Ulster County Office Building at 244 Fair Street in Kingston with blue lighting on April 2, 2016 which is World Autism Awareness Day. Every year thousands of landmarks, schools, businesses and homes unite by shining blue lights in honor of the millions of individuals and families affected by autism.
“Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder affecting the social, communication and behavioral skills of those affected by it which affects many individuals and families in our community,” said County Executive Mike Hein. “The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identify approximately 1 in 68 American children as being on the autism spectrum. It is important to highlight autism in order to raise awareness and understanding, as well as celebrate the unique talents and skills of those with autism. This is one small way Ulster County can honor those in our community who have autism as well as those who are living and working with autism on a daily basis.”
