CHICAGO – November 17, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — In recognition of his outstanding professionalism and commitment to service both within the real estate industry and the community, Robert M. White, Jr., CRE, founder and president of Real Capital Analytics (RCA), New York City, was presented with the 2014 James D. Landauer/John R. White Award by The Counselors of Real Estate® at its Annual Convention in October in Boston. The honor recognizes White’s distinguished record of leadership in the real estate investment and brokerage industries, as well as his impressive record of supporting civic causes.
In presenting the award, 2014 CRE Board Chair Hugh F. Kelly, Ph.D., described White as “innovative, visionary, positive, creative, unassuming, high-energy, generous, entrepreneurial, and resilient.” After launching RCA in 2001 to track real estate data often difficult to obtain, White has navigated RCA through both 9/11 and the global financial crisis by providing the industry with actionable market trends. In the aftermath of the crisis, when investors stopped buying commercial properties, White changed RCA’s focus to tracking troubled assets—data no one else pursued—thereby creating a new market for investors.
White also is a supporter of causes and charities that benefit the poor and children with AIDS in Africa, Haiti, Mexico and Guatemala, as well as animal charities in New York City.
“I am both honored and humbled to be recognized with this prestigious award by fellow Counselors who are among the most accomplished and thoughtful leaders in the industry,“ said White when accepting the award.
White graduated from the University of Virginia’s McIntyre School of Commerce. Following college, he rose to managing director and principal of Granite Partners (now Savills) and then spent nine years with Eastdil Realty in New York and London. He is a frequent lecturer at home and abroad, including at real estate programs such as Cornell, the James A. Graaskamp Center at the University of Wisconsin, and MIT. White is frequently quoted in publications such as The New York Times, Bloomberg News and The Wall Street Journal.
About the Landauer/White Award
The Landauer/White Award is presented annually to an individual who has furthered the ideals of The Counselors of Real Estate®—integrity, competence, community, trust and selflessness. The award is not given based on involvement in The Counselor or NAR organizations. Rather, it is awarded to an individual who is viewed by their peers as a recognized leader of real estate who has contributed significantly to his/her community and/or the world around them. Achievement solely in real estate or in a civic capacity alone is not sufficient to receive the award. The recipient must demonstrate a record of noteworthy accomplishment in both areas.
The award was established in 1986 as a memorial to honor CRE James Landauer for his instrumental role in establishing The Counselors of Real Estate.
