New York, NY – April 20, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand announced today that the Small Business Administration (SBA) has granted Long Island’s request for disaster loans for the March 12-30 storms that walloped the area. The SBA Disaster Assistance Program provides low interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, non-profit organizations to clean up from the storm.
“Long Island was hit with major wind and rain storms that brought a great deal of damage and exhausted resources,” said Schumer. “But thankfully, SBA has done the right thing and approved these loans so families, businesses, and non-profits across Long Island can get back on their feet. I will continue my full court press on FEMA to expedite aid for all Long Island residents who have been battered by months of storms.”
“Long Island has been heavily battered by severe weather over the past several months, and the home and business owners affected by this storm deserve any available federal assistance,” Senator Gillibrand said.
The SBA Disaster Assistance Program provides low interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, non-profit organizations to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery & equipment, inventory and business assets that have been damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster.
